IDA’s Destruction:
- NO POWER within New Orleans, LaPlace, Houma and surrounding – likely will be for a month.
- NO GAS – again could be weeks or longer
- Excessive roof damage and flooding
- Roads are clogged – PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GO! You will create bigger problems. Keep it open for residents and first responders.
CitiIMPACT is working with our long term partners to cook meals and have them delivered to our sites in Houma, Bourg, and LaPlace. This will take our cooking teams at least 1.5 hours each way (depending on gas).
BIGGEST NEEDS: GAS, GENERATORS, WATER, TARPS – If you have connections to these by the semi load please get in touch ASAP. Otherwise please GIVE so we can get them there as soon as possible.
We will NOT be sending teams until it is safe to do so and until teams will be a help and not in the way. Again, gas shortage is biggest hinderance.
CitiIMPACT’s board member, Pastor Kim Voisin lives in Bourg, LA. His home and church suffered extreme damage. He is always there to serve his community and even personally shuttled supplies to Beaumont, TX after Harvey.
Likewise our long term partner, Pastor Neil Bernard in LaPlace, LA is once again faced with leading his community through crisis, even as his own home and church are damaged.
