Eugene, Oregon will be the initial hub for CitiIMPACT’s distribution across the state of Oregon. It offers a safe central location, a dedicated group of volunteers from local churches, as well as a haven for many evacuees needing support. Semi loads of supplies will arrive next week. Of course, it is quite costly to ship that distance. We need your help to help those that have not just lost their homes but also their entire communities and livelihoods, and in some cases even loved ones.
Personal Perspective from Toni Smith:
A bright spot in this very tragic time is how Oregonians are coming together to support one another; offering their homes and property to strangers, trailering horses to safety, searching for missing people, feeding firefighters, providing hot showers. This is the Oregon I know and love. The majority are not the Portland rioters you see on TV. They are hard working people who care deeply for their neighbors and take great pride in the overwhelming beauty of their mountains, rivers, valleys, and coast, which as my own sister says, “Will never look the same in our lifetime”.
