CitiIMPACT actually started 30 years ago as I.M.P.A.C.T. (Inner-city Ministries Providing for At-risk Children & Teens) in Charleston, WV.
Toni was the director. A few years into it she met JD at a gathering of ministry leaders in the city. He stepped up to be the “bus driver” (ironic!) despite one girl who tried to get Toni to fire him (she later served as a candle lighter in their wedding!). Hundreds of kids and families were served through summer camps, after-school clubs, and holiday gatherings. Many received toys at Christmas – miraculously, even the year the outreach house caught fire on the eve before our party with hundreds of toys inside.
They moved to Charlotte, NC in 2001 when their first child, Caleb, was 10 months old. However, they stayed connected through the years – bringing teams back to WV, sending aid when disaster struck, and sadly attending way too many funerals. Well this year CitiIMPACT has been blessed with FIVE SEMI LOADS of new toys! We are sharing them with partners around the country and one is going to Charleston! So we decided it was time for an IMPACT Christmas reunion! Looking forward to seeing the IMPACT kids and their kids later this week. If you’d like to GIVE BACK this GIVING Tuesday we would be grateful. You can designate towards Christmas Toys, disaster relief, or Building HOPE.
