So far this year more than 1,100 volunteers have stepped out in faith by serving with CitiIMPACT through Building HOPE Initiatives!
In Cornelius, NC, seven churches came together to build six homes that are now being completed in the North Carolina mountains for families who lost everything during Hurricane Helene. In Conway, AR, six homes were built, providing housing for families struggling to keep a roof over their children’s heads.
We are seeing something remarkable: more and more churches want to participate—they’re asking to host Building HOPE because they’ve seen what happens when people move out of the pews into the mission field (parking lot). Building HOPE truly offers a place for everyone to serve—young and old, skilled and unskilled, able-bodied and physically challenged. It’s a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ working together.
But there is one challenge…
As more churches say “yes” to building, we need more communities ready to receive the homes.
Housing insecurity isn’t limited to disaster zones. Families across our communities are facing housing instability at an alarming rate. That’s why CitiIMPACT is launching local advisory boards to partner with faith based nonprofits, identify families in need, and create sustainable pathways that connect families with safe, affordable homes.
One exciting example is Building HOPE Ohio, where our team is busy working to get a family of ELEVEN into their home by Thanksgiving. Tayon and Lacretia never thought they could be home owners! They are thrilled for what this means to their 9 children as well as generations to come.
